FAQ

How watermark removal works, what is supported, how your data is handled and where the limits are. If your question is not here, the footer has our email.

Basics

Is this site free?

Yes. Every feature is open, there is no usage limit, no account or phone number is required, and there are no ads on the site at the moment.

Do I need an app or a browser extension?

Neither. This is a plain web tool; any modern browser on a phone or a computer will do.

Which platforms are supported?

Douyin, Kuaishou, Xiaohongshu, Weibo, Bilibili, Xigua Video, Toutiao, Pipix, Weishi, Haokan Video, Doubao and WeChat Official Account articles.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Mobile browsers can parse and download just fine. The only extra step is moving the finished file from Files into your photo library yourself.

Watermarks and quality

Why can some watermarks not be removed?

There are two kinds. The layer a platform adds when you save a video can be bypassed. One the creator burned into the picture while editing is part of the pixels themselves and no tool can lift it. A quick test: if it sits in a fixed corner and carries the platform logo, it is the first kind.

Is the download re-compressed?

No. We take the address of the original file on the platform’s servers and only relay the stream. Nothing is transcoded. The ceiling is whatever quality the creator uploaded.

Why is Bilibili capped at 720p?

1080p, 4K and HDR require a login and often a paid membership. This site collects no account information, so it only offers what is available without signing in.

Can I download series, films or paid courses?

No. That is licensed or in-house content, it is outside what we parse, and we will not add it.

Privacy and security

Do you keep the videos I download?

No. The server pipes the platform’s response straight to your browser. Video data is never written to disk or cached, and it is gone the moment the request ends.

Do you log the links I submit?

Not persistently. Runtime logs hold error messages and request counts for troubleshooting and rate limiting, tied to no personal identity.

Do you need my platform account?

Not at all. We only read public share pages. There is no login, no QR authorisation and no cookie request involved.

Why does a download link stop working after a while?

Download addresses are signed and time limited, which stops them being passed around and the site being used as a public download proxy. Parse again and you get a fresh one.

Where the limits are

Can I repost a downloaded video elsewhere?

We would not recommend it. Reposting someone’s work without permission is textbook infringement, and both the platform and the creator can come after it.

Can I use it for marketing?

Get the creator’s permission first. Copyright stays with them, and removing a watermark grants you nothing.

I am the creator and want my own video back

That is the most common and least contentious reason people are here. Plenty of creators use it to recover their own work after losing the local files.

Still not solved?

Have a look at the troubleshooting checklist (Chinese only), which sorts the fixes by cause. If a whole platform is down, email support@mytoolset.cc with one example link and we will get to it much faster.
